Abstract

Ibrahim. 2022. The Implementation of Project-Based Learning in teaching speaking at the tenth grade student of MA Al Islam Jamsaren in Academic Year 2022/2023. Thesis. English Education Department, Cultures and Language Faculty. The aim of this research is to find out how is the implementation of project-based learning in teaching speaking, the problem, and the solution in implementation of project-based learning in teaching speaking at MA Al Islam Jamsaren in the Academic Year 2022/2023. This research applied the Descriptive Qualitative method. The respondents of this research were the X IPS 2 students of MA Al Islam Jamsaren in the Academic Year 2022/2023 which consisted of 28 students. The result showed that Project-Based learning was applied well by the teacher. The result of this research, the researcher found, the teachers Implementing Project-Based Learning by Starting with the essential question in the first meeting, designing a plan for the project, creating a schedule, monitoring the students and the progress of the project, assessing the outcome, evaluating the experience in the last meeting. Secondly, the teacher found problems in implementing: lack of student discipline in working on projects, students still having difficulty following offline learning, students’ difficulty in using the learning media in making projects, and students’ difficulty speaking in English. The Teacher also does some strategies to overcome the problem of implementing project-based learning by the teacher teaches students how to use media, teachers use brainstorming to increase student participation rates, the teacher allows students to use mixed language, the teacher gives extra time for students to complete the project Keywords: Project-Based Learning, Speaking, Learning Media
