Key words : Speech act, pragmatic, Qualitative Analysis, English teaching The objectives of this research are 1) to identity the realization of Speech Act English Learning Process of SMP AL-Islam Surakarta in Academic Year 2015/2016, 2) To identify the types of illocutionary acts used by the English teachers in English learning process at SMP AL-Islam Surakarta in Academic Year 2015/2016. Based in qualitative includes level of Declarations, Expressives, Representative, Commissives and Directives. This research was desriptive qualitative. The data of this research were the English learning process by the English teachers of SMP A-lislam Surakarta. The research instrument was the researcher himself. The researcher obtained the data by means of note-taking technique. Recording the English teaching and learning process in the class using video camera and/ or video recorder, Transcribing the data into the written form by the teacher, Listening the recording again to check the accuracy of the data, Selecting the data from the recording which are in accor with the objectives of the study, Recording the data into the data sheets, and Finally the data were classified according to Searle’s classification of illocutionary acts (1979). In the data analysis the researcher applied interactive qualitative method by Miles and Huberman (1994) and pragmatic identity method by Sudaryanto (1993). Additionally, the researcher applied coding system. In this research, there were two validity principles applied by the researcher. They were credibility and dependability. To test the credibility the researcher applied investigator triangulation. Meanwhile, to obtain the dependability the researcher gave the detail explanations on the data. The results of the result of the study related to the realization of speech act that was used by teachers in SMP Al Islam Surakarta with the theory of speech acts. In this research, research uses the Searle’s theory about kinds of speech acts. Next, the research show that there are five types of illocutionary Speech act by the English teachers in classroom communication. They are representatives, expressives, directives, declarative and commissives. The directives are the most frequent acts while the commissives are the fewest frequent acts.In conclusion, the dominant use of directive acts implies that the teachers dominate the conversation. Meanwhile, the purpose of the use of questioning is to activate students’ background knowledge and critical thinking.
