Abstract

Advisor : Budiasih., S.Pd., M.Hum. Keywords : Teaching, Reading, Narrative text The objectives of this research are to describe the teaching process in reading narrative text at the eighth grade students of MTs Negeri Karanganyar, to describe the problem faced by the teacher in teaching process, and the way of teacher to solve the problem in teaching process of reading narrative text. The researcher used the descriptive qualitative research design. It was conducted at the eighth grade students of MTs Negeri Karanganyar. The data were collected by using observation, interview, and document. The researcher took observation to know the real process of teaching process. The interview was to collect data related to the problem and solution during teaching process, the media used, the teaching technique and the method in teaching reading in narrative text. The documentations were the syllabus, lesson plan, and students’ assessment. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed the data found qualitatively. The result of the analysis, the researcher found the answers of the statements of research problems. The result of the study showed that the school implemented KTSP curriculum. The teacher used Three Phase Technique to teach reading narrative text. Three phase technique was an appropriate technique that could be implemented in teaching process of reading narrative text. The technique of teaching reading narrative were discussion and combined with Read and Look up (silent reading), Reading aloud. Most of the teacher’s problem in teaching was on the classroom management. To solve this problem; made noisy in the classroom, the teacher built a good relation, gave advice, and motivated them. Difference competence, the teacher gave more exercises. The lack of students’ activeness, the teacher teacher built a good relation, and built their activeness. The limited vocabulary, the teacher gave the students new vocabularies, and asked them to interprate in sentence. Based on the data portion of teaching process was good enough because the reading activity could be integrated with other English skill. Kata kunci : Teaching, Reading, Narrative text Tujuan penelitian ini ada;ah untuk mendiskripsikan proses pengajaran dalam reading naratif teks pada siswa kelas 8 di MTs Negeri Karanganyar, untuk mendeskripsikan permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh guru dalam proses pengajaran, dan cara guru untuk menyelesaikan permasaalahan dalam prosess penggajarran reading naratif teks. Peneliti menggunakan jjenis penelitian kuaalitatif deskriptif. Dilakukan pada kelas 8 di MTs Negeri Karanganyar. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan observasi, interview, dan dokumen. Peneliti menggunakan observasi untuk mengetahui prosespengajaran secara nyata. Interview digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data sesuai permasalahan dan penyelesaian selama proses pengajaran, media yang digunakan, teknik pengajaran dan metode dalam pengajaran reading naratif teks. Dokumentasi adalah berupa silabus, rencana pembelajaran, dan hasil belajar siswa. Setelah data terkumpul, peneliti menganalisis data yang ditemukan dalam bentuk kualitatif. Hasil analisis, peneliti menemukan jawaban dari rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sekolah tersebut menerapkan kurikulum KTSP. Guru menggunakan Three Phase Technique untuk mengajar reading naratif teks. Teknik tersebut adalah teknik yang cocok yang dapat digunakan dalam proses pengajaran reading naratif teks. Teknik dalam pengajaran reading naratif teks diantaranya adalah Diskusi, dan dikombinasikan dengan Read and Look up (membaca dalam hati), dan Reading aloud (membaca dengan lantang). Kebanyakan permasalahan yang dihadapi guru dalam pengajaran adalah manegemen kelas. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan manegemen kelas; gaduh didalam kelas guru membangun hubungan biak dengan siswa dengan memberi nasehat, dan memotivasi mereka. Perbedaan kemampuan siswa, guru memberikan latihan lebih. Kurangnya keaktifan siswa dalam proses pengajaran, guru memecahkan masalah tersebut dengan membina hubungan baik dengan siswa untuk memberikan kenyamanan serta membangun keaktifan siswa. Dan keterbatasan kosata, guru memberikan kosakata baru, dan meminta siswa mengembangkannya dalam bentuk kalimat. Dari data temuan tersebut proses pengajaran cukup bagus, karena aktifitas membaca dapat diintegrasikan dengan kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang lain.
