Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is aims at determining: (1) The principal's role as supervisor, (2) description of Professional Teacher (3) Supporting and inhibiting factors supervisors in improving the Professional Teacher. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The location of the reseach was at MI Muhammadiyah Karanganyar on 2014. Subjects of this study were principal and teachers. Vice Principal, School of Administration were as source of information. Techniques of data collection were method, interviews, observation, and documentation. Testing of the validity of the obtained data used triangulation methods, and sources. Techniques of analysis data used interactive analysis model that consist of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results show that; (1) The principal's role as a supervisor is not good. It is evidenced in the implementation of the supervision that should be carried out periodically in accordance with the implementation schedule, but the fact is not in accordance with the schedule.The principal background is as a teacher and has many activities of out teaching learning schedule. Impact of supervision can improve the competence of professional. (2) Description of Professional Teacher hadn’t appeared well yet because there are many teachers who teach specific subject that are different from the education background, so the teachers have the low value of supervision (3) There is an expectation of the supervised teacher in supporting factors of the implementation of supervision because the teachers can find the lack of teaching to fix better. Inhibiting factors are principal busyness who has many activities outside of school then can not complete the task as duties principals that must supervise 46 teachers who teach at this school, The principal should manage a team of supervisors,therefore all teachers can be supervised according to teaching learning program schedule.
