Abstract

The increasing global pressure for decreasing the negative impacts of global warming and climate change forces countries to put more emphasis on sustainability development. Such policies and regulations have been created by countries for reducing negative impacts of industries and human activities. Preventing the nature from damage - land, air and water - is encouraged by the Holy Qur’an as well (Ar-Rum: 41; Al- A’raf: 56, 58; Shad: 27). Moreover, Qur’an says that less awareness to the nature leads to its destruction, which in turn will break the harmony of the earth. As further consequence, human social and economic situation will be highly affected. Therefore, environmental awareness should be introduced to society. As part of society, Islamic Higher Education has more possibility to create and change society’s mind to become more sustainable-minded through sustainable conscious educations at universities. It could be given in Islamic Higher Education institutions, either included in curriculum or as non-curriculum activities.
