Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims at knowing : 1) the implementation supervision of islamic education supervisors in improving the pedagogik competence of primary school islamic education teachers in district Berbah, Sleman 2) the obtaclesthat faced by supervisors in conducting Islamic Education supervision, 3)the solution for them that can improve the Pendagogik competence of Islamic education teachers at the primary school in district Berbah, Sleman. This researchapplied descriptive qualitative approach. The research was conducted in district Berbah, Sleman for 4 months. The subjects of this research were Islamic Education teachers and supervisors at the primary school in district Berbah. The informants were Islamic Education teachers at the primary school, headmasters, and Chairman of the Working Group of Principals and Students. Data were collected with interviews, observation and documentation. Data were validated with triangulation techniques in source and method. Data were analyzed with interactive modelthat consist of; data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The results show that: 1) academic supervision conducted by Islamic Education supervisors is quite effective in improving the Pedagogik competence of Islamic Education teachersas seen from the increasing in mastery of teaching materials, instructional planning, implementation of learning and assessment of learning outcomes. 2) The obstacles experienced by supervisors in academic supervision arethe lack in number of Islamic Education supervisors personnel, the large number of teachers that should be supervised, and the lack of intensity of supervision. 3) The solution of these problems are recruiting new supervisors, increasing the intensity of supervision at classroom visits and increasing a development programs of academic supervision for supervisors in a periodic and continuous manner.
