English Education Department, Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty. Advisors : Dr. Yusti Arini, M. Pd Key words : Writing, Cue Card, Picture Series The objectives of this research are to know whether there is any significant difference in writing skill between the students taught using Cue Card and those taught using Picture Series. Related to the objectives of the research, the researcher used experimental research. The research was conducted in April- May 2018. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of MTsN 2 Boyolali in the academic year of 2017/2018. From the whole population, two classes were taken as the sample where each class consists of 64 students. The samples were class VIII G as the experimental group I and VIII D as the experimental group II. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The research instrument used to collect the data in this study is test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in writing skill between the students taught by using Cue Card and those taught by using Picture Series media. The mean of the group of students who are taught using Cue Card is 81.88 while those are taught using Picture Series 79.75. Therefore, it can be concluded that Cue Card media is more effective to teach writing than Picture Series.
