Pd Key words : Teaching Reading on Recount Text, Descriptive Study This research is studied about descriptive study on English teaching process for the eighth grade students at MTs N 2 Karanganyar. The problem of this study is the teacher not used the fifth kind of main activity in curriculum 2013 like as observing, questioning,experimenting, associating and communicating. The objectives of this study is to describe the teaching reading comprehension on recount text based on Curriculum 2013 for the eight grade students of MTs N 2 Karanganyar in the academic year 2017-2018. The researcher also describes the strategy used by teacher, the method used by the teacher, the material used in teaching, and the problem facel by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension on recount text based on curriculum 2013. This study is used descriptive qualitative research. This research was carried out at 2 classes for this research. VIII I class teach by Drs. Agus Susanto and B class teach by Dra. Syarifah, S.Ag. The subject of this research was English teacher of MTs N 2 Karanganyar. The data of this research will collect by using some techniques of qualitative data collection including; observation, interview,and study document. The findings of the research are (1) The English teaching process that used of English teacher to teach the students in eight grade students at MTs N 2 Karanganyar in VIII I and VIII B class was scientific approach; (2) The strategy used by the teacher are: pre-reading, while reading and post-reading;(3) The method used by the teacher in teaching are Direct Metho(DM), Grammar Translation Method (GTM) and discussion; (4) The English teacher used 2 kinds of materials. Those materials are Buku Pendamping Bahasa Inggris” (LKS), and the teacher take from internet; (5) There are four probles faced by the teacher such as limited student’s vocabulary knowledge, lack of student’s fluency, managing the class, the different students’ compentence, and lack of student’s activity.
