Key Words :Motivation,Intrinsic Motivation, Extrinsic Motivation, Moslem Smart Club The problem of the research are (1) How are the students’intrinsic motivation and students’ extrinsic motivation in joining Moslem Smart Club Program at IAIN Surakarta in Academic year 2017/2018? (2) What are the students’ problems in joining Moslem Smart Club program at IAIN Surakarta in Academic year 2017/2018?. The objective of the research are (1) To describes the students’ motivation in joining MSC (Moslem Smart Club) program at IAIN Surakarta (2) To find about students’ extrinsic motivation and students’ intrinsic motivation in joining MSC (Moslem Smart Club) Program at IAIN Surakarta in Academic year 2017/2018. This research was conducted in the Moslem Smart Club in Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty of state Islamic Institute of Surakarta. It was descriptive Qualitative research. The subjects of this research were the students of Moslem Smart Club program. The data was collected from the questionnaire, interview and observation. The data were analyzed by the data reduction, data display, conclusion and verification. This research also used methodological triangulation. The findings of the study showed that, the first factor is from intrinsic motivation, there are three factors of intrinsic motivation such as the need, the expectation and interest. The result from the needs are 20,2%, the expectation are 22,6% and the last interest are 11,4%. Thus, the total score from intrinsic motivation are 54,2%. Extrinsic motivation has four factors such as the goal, the society, people around us and the curiosity. The result from the goal are 12,2%, the result from society are 6,8%, the result from people around us are 5% and the last from the curiosity are 11,8%. After that, the total score from extrinsic motivation are 35,8%. Second, the students problems in joining MSC program at IAIN Surakarta. Based on the findings and discuss the research, there are students problem that inhibits the students. The first problems from the active students are the time and difficult to talk. The second problems from the passive students such as the organization, the time, reduced members and the last less closely in brotherhood.
