Abstract

Abstract This research aims at determining (1) the role character education teacher on religiosity, integrity, discipline to overcome student delinquency of class VIII A at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten, (2) the obstacles of character education teacher on religiosity, integrity, discipline to overcome student delinquency of class VIII A at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten, (3) the solutions of character education teacher on religiosity, integrity, discipline to overcome student delinquency of class VIII A at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten. This research was qualitative descriptive research conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten. Subject of this research was character education teacher. Informants were Principal, Deputy Chief of curriculum, teacher, and student. Technique of collecting data used observation, interview and documentation. Technique of data validity used source triangulation. Technique of data analysis used interactive analysis of Miles and Huberman, i.e. data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of this research conclude that (1) the roles of character education teacher on religiosity, integrity, discipline to overcome student delinquency of class VIII A at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten are the custom of ”school sweet school” in the form of greetings, the custom of praying before and after teaching and learning activity, reading the Quran before learning activity, the custom of dhuha pray, the custom of praying zuhur and ashar together, the custom of Friday’s pray at school, tahfid (remembering the verses of Quran) of one day one verse, the custom of giving (infaq), and declaring a promise as Muhammadiyah student. Besides, teacher has other roles as guide, good model (uswah), and advisor, (2) the obstacles faced by the school and the teacher are; no synergy between parents and school program, ignorance of school program by parents, lack of religious education or parents’ religious education, low consideration of praying among the students, bad television programs, negative impacts from internet and youtube, (3) the solutions from school and character education teacher to overcome students delinquency at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten are conducting POMG (intensive meeting between parents and teachers) in the beginning and the middle of semester, applying SIM (System of management information) connected directly to internet.
