Abstract

ABSTRACT The muqâtha’ah hâmîm letter which become opening chapter in 7 verses in Al-Qur’an is one of the mutasyâbihat verses. Within those verses, some mufassir do not have any particular agreement in their interpretation. Furthermore, some of mufassir prefer not to give any comment toward this muqâtha’ah hâmîm at all. The research objective is to obtain the interpretation of Imam Qusyairi’s perpective on the hâmîm and its difference aspect. Imam Qushayri, is a mufassir and a Sufi, is one of the mufassir who interprets these hâmîm verses and distinguishes the interpretation of each letter from the Sufism point of view. The approximation between Imam Qusyairi and his involvement in sufism, makes him able to catch and unveil “signal” from the muqâtha’ah alphabet in the Quran as we found it in his book of Lathâif al-Isyârât. The research have been conducted by library research of Lathâif al-Isyârât with isyâri and Sufism approach. The research has concluded that the Imam Qusyairi interprets “ha” letter as a symbol and a signal from the nature of the essence of Allah (al-shifât al-dzâtiyyat) and the letter “mim” is as a signal and symbol from the nature of the work of Allah (al-shifât al-fi’liyyat). This research also has concluded that the natures of Allah in His verses mentioned by Imam Qusyairi are to customize the content of each letter in general.
