Abstract

ABSTRACT IkaFitriyani. 2018. The Effectiveness of Animated Fable Video in Teaching Narrative Text at Eight Grade of SMPN 3 Mojogedang. Thesis. Surakarta: Sarjana Program of English Education Department of Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty of State Islamic Institute of Surakarta. Advisor : Dr. Rochmat Budi Santoso, S. Pd, M. Pd Key words : Writing, Narrative Text, Animated Fable Video The problem of statement is whether the use of animated fable video is effective in teaching narrative text at eight grade of SMPN 3 Mojogedang in the academic year 2017/2018. The objective of the research to know whether there is any significant difference of animated fable video to increase the eighth grade student writing narrative text achievement between the students who are taught using animated fable video and those are taught by using picture series of SMPN 3 Mojogedang in academic year of 2017/2018. To achieve the objective of study, the researcher conducted experimental research. This experimental research was held at SMPN 3 Mojogedang. The researcher used cluster random sampling technique to determine class of research. The subject of the study was the grade VIII B and VIII D. The Experimental class was taught writing narrative text using animated fable video , whereas the control class was taught writing narrative text using picture series. In analyzing the data, the researcher used quantitative measurement to find the result. The result of the research shows that there is a significant difference in writing narrative text achievement between students who are taught by using animated fable video and those are taught using picture series. The computation of t-test show to=-7.597 is higher that ttable = 1.994 or 7.597 > 1.994. It means that animated fable video is more effective to teach students„ writing narrative text. Furthermore the research showed the mean post-test experimental class is 78.08 and for control class is 70.58. It can be applying as media in teaching writing narrative text of junior high school because the students can understand more about the text and catch the message that has been delivered because the student is supported by audio visual media.
