Abstract

ABSTRACT Mardanix, Anjas Devita 2017.The Effectiveness of Field Trip Method to Teach Writing Skill on Descriptive Text of the Tenth Grade Students of MAN Sukoharjo in Academic Year 2016/2017. Thesis. English Education Department, Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty, The State Islamic Institute of Surakarta. Advisor : Dr. H. Giyoto, M.Hum. Keywords : Field Trip Method, Writing, Descriptive Text. The aim of this research is to find out whether Field Trip Method is effective or not for teaching writing for the tenth grade students of MAN Sukoharjo compare with Lecturing Method to teach descriptive text. Related to the objective of the research, the researcher used experimental research. The design used in this research is Quasi Experimental with Pre-test Post-test non-equivalent design. The population of this research is the tenth grade students of MAN Sukoharjo in the academic year 2016/2017. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The sample of research was divided into two classes; X IPS 1 as experimental class and X IPS 3 as control class. In collecting the data, the researcher used a test. The researcher used t-test to analyze the data by using program SPSS 24. The finding of this research shows that teaching writing by using Field Trip Method was effective. It is proved by t-test found that Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 and the level of significance is 0.05. It can be seen that Sig. (2-tailed) lower than the level of significance. It is considered that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and Null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It means that there is any significant effect between the students taught by using field trip method as method in learning writing skill and the students taught by using lecturing method. Therefore, it can be concluded that field trip method is effective applied by the teacher to teach writing especially for the students of MAN Sukoharjo.
