Abstract

ABSTRACT Alfian Hadyan Noor. 2017. The Effectiveness of Ted-Ed Lesson Web Blog to Teach Speaking Ability of Eighth Grade Students of SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Kaustar Program Khusus Kartasura in The Academic Year 2016/2017. Thesis. The objective of this study was to find wether there was any significant difference in learning achievement of speaking practice between the students who were taught by using Ted-Ed Lesson Web Blog Media and those who were taught by using Text Book media in SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kartasura in The Academic year of 2016/2017. The design this research is post-test only control group design used for collecting data that is used post-test. The population of the study was in the senior high school. The number of the population was 67 students divided into classes. The first class belongs to A.R Fahrudin as the experimental group and the second class is Buya Hamka as the control group. The experimental class was taught using Ted-Ed Lesson Web Blog as teaching media and the control class was taught using Textbook as teaching media also. In collecting the data, the significant effectiveness or not of those who are taught by using Ted-Ed Lesson Web Blog media and those who are taught by using Textbook media speaking skill. From the analysis, the t-test or t-value obtained is (8.92), since t-test is higher than t-table (2.0), so the hypothesis is accepted. The average score post-test in experimental class is 57.4 and the average score of post-test in control class is 50.6. It means that the use Ted-Ed Lesson Web Blog media is effective to teach students speaking skill at the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Kaustar in the academic year of 2016/2017. It can be concluded that the students taught using Ted- Ed Lesson Web Blog media can be applied have higher achievement than the students taught using Textbook media. Ted-Ed Lesson Web Blog media can be applied to teach students speaking skill for eighth grade students in SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kartasura. Ted-Ed Lesson Web Blog as media can make the students more enthusiasm, active and enrich the students speaking skill.
