English Education Department, Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty, State Islamic Institute of Surakarta. Advisor : Kurniawan, SS., Hum. Key words : Mispronunciation, Songs in concert English pronunciation is very important to learn because pronunciation is the aspect in delivering meaning in English. There is a way that is considered as one of good English practice in pronunciation, by songs. In IAIN Surakarta there is music community which is involved many of English students on every works. This music community always make annual event and most of the event they always present music live and of course a lot of English songs they sing. Students can learn English especially speaking through songs, a lot of English songs that is familiar and known by students and sometime becomes their way to get new English vocabulary. There are many mispronunciation occur in song that students sing. Therefore, the purpose of the study are: (1) to explain the types of mispronunciation viewed by “Sakura Band” vocalist in Adele Tribute Concert; (2) to explain the causes of mispronunciation made by “Sakura Band” vocalist in Adele Tribute Concert. This study is a descriptive qualitative research which was about English mispronunciation the vocalist of “Sakura Band” who the vocalist is one of English students of IAIN Surakarta. The instrument was the researcher and dictionary. The source of the data in the study is students’ tribute concert audio and the data were taken from lyrics of songs in Adele Tribute Concert audio of student. The subject of the study was “Sakura Band” vocalist and the object were utterance (singing) which is include English mispronunciation in the “Sakura Band” in Adele Tribute Concert. The data collecting technique from the study was used lyrics of songs, audio and dialogue. The result of the study was the researcher found (1) mispronunciation which was done by student in segmental (consonant was 34 words, vowel was 63 words, and diphthong was 55 words) and combinational aspect was 71 words; (2) there were two causes of mispronunciation (interlingua transfer was happened in four consonants, 9 words and intralingua was happened in consonant, vowel and diphthong, 152 words. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that in segmental and combinational aspect the dominant mispronunciation occurred in vowel sound, then in interlingua and intralingua transfer the dominant causes was intralingua transfer. Moreover, the student should exercise more their pronunciation in American and British accent, and teachers are suggested to be paying more attention to students’ pronunciation.
