Abstract

Words : Midterm Test, Evaluation, Instrument Test is used as an instrument of the evaluation in education. It has important role to measure the achievement of the students. Thus, the test maker or test constructor cannot claim the test before the test maker try the test to the students and know the response of the students in answering each item. The aims of this research were (1) To describe the English mid-term test made by teacher for the tenth grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar at the first semester in academic year 2016/2017 in the term of a) level difficulty, b) discriminating power, c) effectiveness of distractor (2) To know the appropriateness between mid-term test and Bloom‟s Taxonomy of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar at the first semester in academic year 2016/2017 The researcher uses descriptive quantitative. The population of this research is all of the tenth grade in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar. The researcher collect the data by using documents those are students‟ answer sheet, Question Test, syllabus. The data were taken from 150 students answer sheet devided into lower, upper and middle group. The kind of analysis that using by the researcher to collect the result of this research is about level difficulty, discriminating power and distractors of the test items. The researcher also limit the analysis test in multiple choice only. The documentation that used to collect the data are Student‟s Score, Syllabus, Test, Student‟s Worksheet. In this research, the researcher crosscheck the data used Microsoft Excel to get the data. Based on the research result, it can be found that (1) from difficulty level in multiple choice items are 23% difficult, 47% moderate, 30% easy. For difficulty level criteria, the question of test include moderate categories and can use to lower and upper group. The result of discriminating power 30% are very good item, 10% reasonable items, 20% are marginal and the rest 40% are poor items. The next analysis is effectiveness distractor for mid-term test items; those are 73% are effective and 27% are ineffective items. (2) Viewed by Bloom‟s Taxonomy, the test is not completed all of the level. The midterm test more focused on comprehension level. Whereas, in Senior High School should be fulfill all of the level from Bloom‟s Taxonomy.
