Abstract

This research aims at 1) analyzing the management of reading the Quran by applying method of UMMI, 2) analyzing the obstacles of management of reading the Quran by applying method of UMMI, 3) analyzing the solutions to overcome the problems of management of reading the Quran by applying method of UMMI. This research was a qualitative research conducted at House Institution of Quran Al Maghfiroh from October to December 2017. Subject of this research was Chief of House Institution of Quran Al Maghfiroh, while informants were teachers (ustadz and ustadzah), students, manager, and parents. Method of collecting data used observation, interview and documentation. Test of data validity used source triangulation. Data analysis used interactive model by Miles and Huberman encompassing data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results of this research show that 1) Management of reading the Quran by applying method of UMMI is conducted through: Planning of learning by making syllabi, schedule and accepting new students, Organizing of learning done by relating material, learning source and learning media, Implementing of learning began with introduction, apperception, conception building, conception understanding, workshop, evaluation and completion, Evaluating of learning divided into 3, i.e. daily evaluation, Qur’an level rise and munaqosah (final test). 2) Obstacles in management of reading the Quran by applying method of UMMI are: Arrangement of learning program plan is not appropriated with time allocation, teacher ratio and also low student, little time for learning, absent students, learning evaluation that is not based on the planning. 3) Solutions to overcome those obstacles are to add extra time for learning, to add teachers, to lengthen learning time from 60 minutes into 90 minutes, to motivate the students, to evaluate final phase through coordinator of UMMI at House Institution of Quran Al Maghfiroh Keywords: Management of Reading the Quran
