Abstract

Munifah Naharoh. 2017. An Error Analysis on the Dialogue Script Written by Twelfth Grade Students of MAN 2 Boyolali in Academic Year 2017/2018. Thesis. This research studies about analysis of errors on constructing verb forms in the dialogue script written by the twelfth grade students of MAN 2 Boyolali in academic year 2017/2018. The aims of this research were (1)to describe the types of errors and (2)to find the sources of errors on constructing verb forms in the dialogue script written by the twelfth grade students of MAN 2 Boyolali 2017/2018. This research includes descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted on Monday July 31th, 2017 at MAN 2 Boyolali. The subject of the research was students of XII IPA 1 which consists of 30 students. The data was analyzed by Surface Strategy Taxonomy and Linguistic Category to classify the types of errors. Then the researcher also analyzed the sources of errors by Brown’s theory. The researcher collected the data used test. The instruments to collect the data were writing task. The techniques of analyzing data were collecting the data, identifying errors, describing the errors, and explaining the errors. The finding of this research showed that the types of error written by the twelfth grade students of MAN 2 Boyolali on their constructing verb form in the dialogue script consist of 4 types, they are omission error which was the highest frequency (66 errors or 50 %). Then, it was followed by misformation error (32 errors or 24,24 %), addition error (28 errors or 21,21 %), and the lowest of the error frequency was misordering (6 errors or 4,54 %). The totals errors were 132 errors. Furthermore, the sources of errors was divided into two transfer. Firstly, there was intralingual with 77 errors. Secondly, interlingual transfer was 55 errors. The researcher concluded that the possible causes of errors are from the target language (Intralingual transfer), most of students couldn’t understand well about the rules of target language.
