Advisor : Muntaha, M.Pd Key Words : Writing, Picture Series, Procedure text Media is important in teaching and learning process. It helps teacher deliver the material more effective. Picture series as the media that can help to develop students imagination of the chronological events in the story immediately can be used to teach writing as writing is the process of thinking to invent ideas, thinking about how express into good writing and arranging the ideas into statement and paragraph clearly. Therefore, the objective of the research is to know the effectiveness of Picture Series to teach writing at seventh grade of MTs N Mlinjon Klaten. This research is a quantitative and uses experimental design. This research was carried out in MTs N Mlinjon Klaten. The population of the research was the seventh grade student of MTs N Mlinjon Klaten. The researcher chose class VII G and VII H as the sample of the research. The class VII G as the experimental group was taught using picture series and class VII H as the control group was taught using cue card. In collecting the data, the researcher used pretest, treatment and posttest with essay as scoring. Then data were analyzed using T-test. The mean score of posttest of the experimental group is 79.23 while the mean score of posttest of control group is 72.88. The result of T-test above Tvalue > Ttable. that was 9.436 > 2.000, and also can read in p-value (sig 2-tailed) < 0,05. That was 0,000 < 0,05. So, with those can be concluded that Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that there was significant difference in achievement of writing text between students taught by Picture Series in teaching writing text. The findings of this research are first the score is increasing after students are taught using Picture Series. Second Picture Series has significant different on the seventh grade students’ writing skills of MTs N Mlinjon Klaten in academic year 2017/2018. From that finding, it can be concluded that Picture Series is recommended to teach Writing to junior high school level. So, Picture Series is effective to use by the teacher in teaching writting.
