Key words : Song, teaching vocabulary, teaching English This study aims todescribing the use of songs for teaching English at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Masran. The researcher wants to know the procedure of using song based on students‟ textbook the 2013 curriculum. Specifically, the study aims to describe: 1. the procedure of the teacher use song for teaching English, 2. the problems faced by teacher and learners in using song for teaching English. The type of the research is descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is the English teacher and the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Masaran. The research questions of this research paper are the procedure of using song and the problems faced by teacher during using song for teaching English. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview and documentation analysis. The researcher used Miles and Huberman‟s theory (1994) in analyzing the data arereducing the data, display the data and conclusion. Based on the research findings showed that the researcher have been 2 days observation and showed that the teaching English by using songs has 3 stages there are; opening, main activity, closing. The procedures of teacher by using song, there are; 1) the teacher prepares video or audio based on the students‟ textbook, 2) then the teacher plays video or audio for the students 2 or 3 times to make the students familiar with new words in the song, 3) the teacher and the students sing a song together 2 or 3 times, 4) the teacher guides the students to learn the meaning of new words deeply and clearly, 5) the teacher gives the students worksheet then the teacher and the students corrected the worksheet, 6) finally the teacher and the students sing a song together. The problems faced by the teacher during the using of song for teaching English are;1) the students' understanding of the songs was different,2) the teacher was difficulties in managing the students in the classroom. And the findings showed that songs are used for two purposes in teaching English, there are: 1) teaching vocabulary, 2) pronunciation.
