Abstract

This research aims at gaining information of (1) management of the implementation of curriculum 2013 on Islamic Education subject at MTsN Mlinjon Klaten, (2) barriers in the implementation of curriculum 2013 on Islamic Education subject at MTsN Mlinjon Klaten and (3) solutions of those barriers. This research approach employed qualitative research. It was conducted at MTsN Mlinjon Klaten from November to December 2017. Subject of this research was the Headmaster of MTsN Mlinjon Klaten. Informants were the Headmaster, vice headmaster, Islamic Education teacher, Chief of administration, and librarian. Method of collecting data used observation, interview, and documentation. Test of data validity used triangulation. Data analysis used data collection, data display, reduction, and conclusion with analysis descriptive model. The results of this research show that (1) The optimization of management functions can be described as follows: a) Planning includes qualification of Islamic Education teachers, implementation budget, curriculum media, available facilities and infrastructures, and teaching method, b) Organizing includes job division meeting, budget of curriculum 2013, coordination of book availability, coordination among Islamic Education teacher, school committee meeting and briefing lead by the Headmaster, c) Actuating includes the realization of syllabus-Lesson Plan and learning material, training and workshop, book and learning source availability, facilities and infrastructure, the making of independent learning source using method of student centered, also the installation of banner, d) Controlling includes the supervision done by the Headmaster, the report of all events budget, the checklist of learning tools, the regular maintenance of learning facilities, the evaluation of learning, (2) The barriers in the management implementation are the teacher qualification, the factor of teacher’s age, the budgeting, and lack of facilities, out of time of meeting coordination, lack of teachers joining workshop, out of time of learning source and worksheet making, supervision for uncertified teachers, (3) The solutions done by the Headmaster are to add Islamic Education teachers, to conduct workshop and technical guidance, to increase the budget, to conduct IT training, to discipline in the meeting and the briefing, to give reward for those who are quickly submitting learning tools, and also to spread supervision.
