Abstract

The Effectiveness of Using Two Stay Two Stray in Teaching Reading of Narrative Text (An Experimental Research) at the first grade students of MAN Sukoharjo in Academic Year 2017/2018. Thesis. English Education Department Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty. IAIN Surakarta. Advisor : Zainal „Arifin S.Pd.,M.Pd Keyword :Two Stay Two Stray, Reading, Narrative Text. Reading is used to build knowledge of language and enrich our vocabulary. The objective of this study is to find out whether Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) technique is effectiveness to teach Reading Narrative Text for the first grade students of MAN Sukoharjo in the academic year 2017/2018. This research used quantitative approach with quasi experimental design. This research was conduct from August to September 2017. The researcher took the sample by using cluster random sampling in which students were divided into two groups, 26 students of X IPA 1 and 26 Students of X IPA 2, belong to X IPA 1 as an experimental class and X IPA 2 as a control class. The researcher used Test to collect the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS version 17 to analyze the data. The result of SPSS computation shows that there is significant effectiveness of Teaching Reading Narrative text at the first grade students of MAN Sukoharjo in academic year 2017/2018. The mean score of Post-test in Experimental is 82,88 and the mean score of Post-test in control Class is 69.62. it means that the use Two Stay Two Stray Technique is effective to teach reading narrative text at the first grade students of MAN Sukoharjo. It is proved by the result of T-Test. The Df is 50.Tobserved 6.824. it means that Ho is rejected and Ha Is accepted. The analysis of T-test also cananalyze from significant value. The significant of this t￾test is 0.000 therefore, 0.000 < 0.791. it means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
