English Education Study Program Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty The State Islamic Institute of Surakarta. Advisor : Fithriyah Nurul Hidayati, M.Pd Key words : Teaching Style, Reading Skill The purpose of this research is to describe the teaching style which used by the teacher to sixth grade students in reading skill at SDIT Abu Ja’far in the academic year of 2015/2016. The researcher was conducted at SDIT Abu Ja’far from November 2015 until August 2016. The subject of this research is the students of B class of the sixth grade students at SDIT Abu Ja’far in the academic year of 2015/2016. This class consists of 32 students. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview, and questionnaire. The researcher uses technique of analyzing the data from Miles and Huberman. There are four steps to analyzing the data; 1) data collection, 2) data reduction, 3) data display, 4) drawing the conclusion. The result of the research shows that teaching style of teacher in reading skill is appropriate with Anthony F. Grasha theory. Based on theory from Anthony F. Grasha, there are five teaching style, namely 1) expert, 2) formal authority, 3) facilitator, 4) personal model, 5) delegator. In this result of the research, the researcher identified that teaching style which teacher used in reading skill is facilitator. To describe detailed of teaching style of teacher in reading skill at SDIT Abu Ja’far in the academic year of 2015/2016 the researcher is doing interview with the teacher and the students and observe the process of teaching reading skill which consist of three step; they are opening, main activity, and closing
