Abstract

ABSTRACT State Vocational High School 2 Karanganyar represents one of public education playing a part in making up the understanding of Islam. Religion education taught in public school is not successfull to develop the obedient person and having honorable behavior. Reality proves that there are students which are unable to read the Al-Qur'An, executing shalat better, do not fast the Ramadhan, and not show the behavior which is praised among student. Extracurricular activity based on the pesantren represents one way to be illiterate in Al-Qur'an and plant the religious behavior. Target of this research is to know the extracurricular activity management based on the pesantren in improving religious behavior and knowledge in State Vocational High School 2 Karanganyar. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. Research conducted in State Vocational High School 2 Karanganyar, at the Sudarso Street Bejen Karanganyar in 2014. This research subjects were the supervisor spiritual and students. The research informants were headmaster, students and parents. Data were collected with observation, interview, and documentation. Data were validated with triangulation of source and method. Data were analyzed with interactive model consist of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Result of research indicates that the extracurricular activity management based on pesantren in State Vocational High School 2 Karanganyar, quality is very high. This matter is proved with the existence of management elements in planning area covering activity executed on Saturday and Week, organization covering executing of activity coordinated between spirituality builder, proxy of student and headmaster, leadership covering the self-supporting spirituality builder,observation cover the applying of element of openness and responsibility between builder and member. Intention of the activity is illiterate complete of Al-Qur'an, students have soul of Qur'ani and inclucate the religious behavior. Supporting factors of the activity are cooperation between schools, parents and society. Resistant factors of the activity are lack of student coordination with the spirituality supervisor, its weak management of human resource and administration.
