Abstract

The research objectives are to figure out: (1) the teacher management in Muhammadiyah Elementary School (Plus) of Salatiga, (2) the obstacles in implementing teacher management in Muhammadiyah Elementary School (Plus) of Salatiga, (3) the solutions of the obstacles. This research applied the method of descriptive qualitative. It was conducted in Muhammadiyah Elementary School (Plus) of Salatiga. The researcher spent approximately two months starting from May to June 2015. The subject of the research only involved the principal of Muhammadiyah Elementary School (Plus) of Salatiga. Meanwhile, the information of data was acquired from: (1) teachers, (2) students, (3) guardians, and (4) school committee. The data collection technique included observation, interview, and documentation. In order to check the data validity, the triangulation method was applied. The analysis data technique uses an interactive method was including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of the research shows: (1) the teacher management of Muhammadiyah Elementary School (Plus) of Salatiga includes recruitment, selection, placement, orientation, supervision, training, mutation, and retirement. Supervision and training are the main focus in teacher management. The supervision is conducted regularly and simultaneously for the purpose of diminishing the possible conflict at school. The type of training relates to the need of teacher in order to develop their quality. (2) The obstacles in the implementation of teacher management relate to accessibility of proper classrooms, the regular supervision which is not innovative makes participant saturation, night sessions that creates anxiety toward female teachers. (3) The solutions: making conjunction with stake holders to get quote of loans for constructing new halls, coordinating the supervision program with the boards of foundation and committee to create innovative programs, and involving family members in the supervision program in the purpose of intensifying the connection network among the school members.
