Abstract

Education is one of most important aspect in efforts of improving the quality of human resources. Teacher as the main agent of learning has a quiet big role in the achievement of national education goals as well as improving the quality of education in Indonesia. However the performance of teachers specially in Islamic education institutions is predicted low because of some factors like teacher’s performance appraisal which is not maximally implemented and the lack of teachers’ awareness on organizational culture in the school environment. Therefore this research is aimed to find out (1) the effect of teacher performance appraisal on the teacher performance, (2) the effect of teacher cultural organization on the teacher performance, (3) the effect of teacher performance appraisal and their cultural organization on the teacher performance. To answer several problems mentioned above, this research is designed by quantitative research methods with linear regression model. The population are all teachers in Islamic Junior High School in the district area of Ciawi Bogor West Java namely: Amaliah Junior High School Ciawi, YPPI Junior High School BendunganCiawi, Integrated Islamic Junior High School of FathanMubinaBanjarsariCiawi, and Integrated Islamic Junior High School of RaudhatulJannahBanjarwangiCiawi, which are around 83 respondent. The researcher uses total sampling method to take research sample and uses a questionnaire as an instrument for collecting core data and takes additional data through observation and interviews. The result of research showed: (1) Teacher performance appraisal partially has significant effect on the teacher performance with the t-test result for 2.917 and t-table at 95% level for 2.576, it declared a significant effect, (2) Cultural organization affects on teacher performance with the result for 11.02 >2.576, (3) Teacher performance appraisal and cultural organization affects simultaneously on teacher performance, with the regression result F-count for 94.703 and F-value for 8.077, (4) the analytical result of regression coefficients proves that both independent variable have a linear significancy and good fit and provides considerable influence for 70,3% on teacher’s performance while the remaining 29,7% is residual.
