This research which is entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Graphic Organizer to Teach Reading Comprehension at the Seventh Grade of MTs N Ngemplak in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. It aims to find out whether using Graphic Organizer is effective to teach reading comprehension at the seventh grade of MTs N Ngemplak in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. In this research, to analyze the data, the researcher conducted an experimental research. This experimental research was held at MTs N Ngemplak. The researcher used posttest only design. The researcher used random sampling technique to determine class of research. The sample of the study was the grade VII E and VII G. The Experimental class was taught reading Descriptive text using Graphic Organizer, where as the control group was taught reading comprehension Descriptive text using Scanning Technique. In analyzing the data,the researcher used qantitative measurement to find the result. The result in this research , the average of students’ experimental group using Graphic Organizer was 74.85 and for students’control group using Scanning Technique was 68.55. Based on the result above,it can be concluded that students who are taught by sing Graphic Organizer have better reading comprehension than those who are taught sing Scanning Technique. Therefore teaching reading comprehension for seventh grade of MTs N Ngemplak in the academic year 2016/2017 by using Graphic Oranizer is effective. ABSTRAK Rosiana Asmarani. 2017. Penelitian ini berjudul “Keefektifan Penggunaan Graphic Organizer untuk Pengajaran Pemahaman Reading Kelas Tujuh di MTs N Ngemplak Tahun Akademik 2016/2017.penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan apakah penghunaan Graphic Organizer efektif untuk pengajaran pemahaman reading kelas tujuh di MTs N Ngemplak tahun akademik 2016/2017. Dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisis data, peneliti melakukan penelitian eksperimental. Penelitian eksperimental dilaksanakan ndi MTs N Ngemplak. Peneliti hanya mkenggunakan test akhir. Peneliti menggunakan teknik pengelompokan untuk menentukan kelas penelitian. Sample pada penelitian ini dilakukan dikelas VIIE dan VIIG. Kelas eksperimental diajarkan reading deskrptive teks menggunakan Graphic Organizer dimana control group diajarkan menggunakan pemahaman reading pada deskriptive text menggunakan Scanning Technique. Pada penelitian ini analisis data menggunakan kuantitatif untuk menghitungan kesimpulan. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini, rata-rata murit eksperimental group menggunkan Graphic Organizer adalah 74,85 dan utuk murid grup control menggunakan Scanning Teknik adalah 68.55. berdasarkan hasil itu, dapat disimoulkan bahwa murid yang diajarkan pemahaman eading menggunakan Graphic Organizer lebih baik dari pada yang diajarkan menggunkan Scanning Teknik. Olehkarena itu pengajaran pemahaman reading untuk kelas tujuh MTs N Ngemolak pada Akademik 2016/2017 menggunakan Graphic Organizer adalah efektif.
