Advisor : Dr. Yusti Arini, M.Pd Key Words : Speaking skill, Videos, Seventh grade students Speaking skill in Junior High Schools is one of the four English skills that students have to learn. Teachers have to use a strategy or media to teach students so that the students are interesting with the material that the teacher deliver. One of the media used in teaching and learning speaking skill is video. Video improves students’ cultural understanding of English.The objective of this study is to describe the implementation in teaching speaking skill using videos, to explain the roles of teacher, to describe the strategy and also to describe the supporting and obstructing factors in teaching and learning process at the seventh grade especially in VII PK1 and VII PK4 of MTs Negeri Surakarta 1in the academicyear of 2016/ 2017. This study was categorized into qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of the study were the VII PK1 and VII PK4 students of MTs Negeri Surakarta 1 in the academic year of 2016/ 2017. Data collection is done using observation, documentation and interview. To analyze the data, descriptive qualitative analysis is used; it is to present the result of study in the form of descriptive explanation. In this research, the researcher used triangulation of method, it was done by comparing the data taken from observation which had been held during teaching and learning process and the data from interview and documents which have the same source. The finding of this study describe the use of video as media in teaching and learning speaking at the seventh grade students of MTs Negeri Surakarta 1. The videos as media made the students enjoy and more pay attention in the classroom when teaching and learning process. Mrs. Ari Purwani used the videos that very interesting, although she has supporting and obstructing factor that used video. The score of the students taught by using videos were also better than taught by using other medias. In teaching speaking, the teacher used many strategy there are group work and presentation. This process run fluently, because the teacher in teaching speaking not only as educator and evaluator but also as informant, motivator and leader. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher suggests that teaching speaking at the seventh grade students should use interesting media so that the students pay attention to the subject for example videos. But sometimes the teacher did not used media like videos but actually videos is one of media that simple but have influence in teaching learning process.
