Abstract

ABSTRACT One of the ways to succes in education is determined by teacher’s competence. However, most of teacher of MIN have not totally had the competence. Therefore, the high motivation and positive self concept can help to increas teacher’s competence. The objectives of the research are to know the correlation between : (1) work motivation of teacher with teacher’s competence at MIN of subdistrict Kalijambe, Sragen Regency, (2) self concept of teacher with teacher’s competence at MIN of subdistrict Kalijambe, Sragen Regency, (3) work motivation of teacher and self concept of teacher with teacher’s competence at MIN of subdistrict Kalijambe, Sragen Regency. This research was correlational quantitative research. Research was conducted at MIN of Kalijambe district, Sragen Regency. The population of the research are all teachers in MIN of subdistrict Kalijambe, Sragen Regency. They were 44 persons. All population in this research were the subject of research (population research). The technique of collecting data was questionnaire. Test of Validity used construct item validity applied product moment formula. Test of reliability used Cronbach’s Alpha formula. Technique of analyzing data used regression and correlation started by testing of assumption consisted of data normality test, independency of independent variables, linearity test and significance of regression test. The result of this research shows that : (1) there is a significant correlation between work motivation of teacher with teacher’s competence, shown by value of tcount of work motivatin variable wich is higher than ttable (2,7071,681) and the effect is 17% (2) there is a significant correlation between self concept of teacher with teacher’s competence, shown by value of tcount of work motivatin variable wich is higher than ttable (2,2961,681) and the effect is 13,4% (3) there is a significant correlation between work motivation of teacher and self concept of teacher with teacher’s competence, shown by value of tcount wich is higher than ttable (3,3771,682) and the effect is 26,5%, while 73,5% is affected by the other factors out of the research. Multiple regression equation is Y = 149,456 + 1,041 X1 + 0,388 X2. These results show that value of teacher’s competence is 149,456 if there is no effect of work motivation (X1) and self concdpt (X2). Coefficient of X1 is 1,041 states that every increasing of one point of work motivation will add the value of teacher’s competence of 1,041. Regression coefficient of X2 is 0,388 states that every increasing of one point of self concept will add the value of teacher’s competence of 0,388.
