Abstract

ABSTRACT Indicating the occurrence of a failure of moral decadence in education who had only focused on cognitive aspects, affective and psychomotor aspects are neglected. Through character education, it is expected that all aspects of education get attention. Government implements Culture and National Character Education, which implementation is integrated in every subject. It is expected that with the implementation of the character education will be formed nation of character generation in the future. This study aims at determining the application of Culture and National Character Education at Junior Secondary School of Karanganyar. This research used descriptive qualitative research approach. This research was conducted at Junior Secondary School of Karanganyar from January to June 2014. Subjects were teachers and students. While the research informants were the school committee, principal and parents. Technique of data validity used triangulation sources and methods. The data analysis used interactive model comprising data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results show that the implementation of Culture and National Character Education in Junior Secondary School of Karanganyar have been integrated into each subject. Integrating the values of these characters is to suitability to the subject matter. Character values developed are religious, honest, independent, disciplined, responsible and friendly / communicative. The approach used in conveying to the child that there is a contextual approach to the relationship between the subject matter and the delivered value. Evaluation is done by providing a qualitative value to the students' attitudes and behaviors through observation. The results of the assessment are into consideration in determining the value of each academic subject. Planting a character that has a good value will not succeed without the support of all parties. As in Junior Secondary School of Karanganyar, lack of attention and supervision than most parents who work overseas to be one of the causes of the child is not successful planting that value. The success of the program and the National Character Education Culture highly require the participation of all parties, both on the committees, teachers, parents and the community.
